Southern Bank Names O’Neal Community Bank President, Cosgrove as Loan Officer

(January 22, 2019 – Poplar Bluff, MO) Southern Bank recently announced the promotion of Matthew O’Neal to Community Bank President for the Doniphan market. Curtis Tucker, the current Community Bank President is retiring in February 2019. Tucker recommended O’Neal as his successor. O’Neal will be responsible for leadership of the Doniphan lending team as well as business development for the Doniphan market. Mary Beth Cosgrove will fulfill the position of Loan Officer at the Doniphan Branch.

O’Neal has been a team member at Southern Bank for over five years, most recently serving as a Loan Officer. He is a graduate of Doniphan High School went on to attend Hannibal LaGrange University where he received his Bachelor’s degree. O’Neal is also a graduate of the Barret School of Banking and Missouri Bankers Association School of Bank Management. He is a lifelong resident of Doniphan and is married to Julie (Helms) O’Neal. Matthew and Julie have two sons, Tyler and Zachary. He and his family are members of the First Church of God in Doniphan and in their free time they enjoy traveling, hunting and fishing.

Cosgrove is also a lifelong resident of Doniphan and graduated from Doniphan High School in 2009. She has been a part of the team at Southern Bank for over 4 years. Mary Beth attended Three Rivers College and has over nine years of experience in banking. She is the current President of the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce and is very active in the local community. She has two children, Kailyn and Easton and in their free time her family enjoys hiking, kayaking on the Eleven Point and Current Rivers and planning community events.
